Bennett Thrasher’s basketball team took home the championship trophy February 22, 2011 as they crushed “the Defenders” 68-48 to win the Cobb County Parks and Recreation Winter Basketball League. The key to the victory was the outstanding defense played by everyone.  The first half was very close with BT down 2 at the half, 25-27.  But they came out hot to start the second half and pulled away quickly for the win!

Congratulations to the team of R. Barger, C. Benner, C. Butler, C. Edwards, P. Flanagan, E. Gilmore, L. Heath, J. Krumdieck, Z. Leder, and M. Thrasher  who played an incredible season.  Also, a thank you goes out to everyone who came out to cheer on and support the team.

On February 11, Bennett Thrasher’s Matt Grosvenor is co-chairing and speaking at the Georgia Society of CPA’s 2011 Healthcare Conference at the Cobb Galleria Centre. The conference is a must-attend event for financial professionals who work with and within healthcare providers.  This year’s conference is especially relevant as CPA’s digest the Affordable Care Act of 2010.  Speakers will discuss the past year and preview future trends both nationally and in Georgia.  Topics also include: Compliance, Audit, Risk and Ethics, Tax changes and matters, Physician / Hospital Integration, Benchmarking, and Accountable Care Organizations.  Bennett Thrasher assists clients in all these areas.  Matt’s specific topic this year will focus on Mergers and Acquisitions.  Beginning in calendar year 2010 and fiscal year 2011 for many health systems, the accounting for acquisitions have changed significantly.  His presentation will cover the concepts and requirements of the new standards.  In addition to the rules, participants will attain information helpful for modeling pro-forma financial statements during pre-acquisition due-diligence.
